Why the 2005 NCCE Conference was a good investment for the Puyallup School District?

I took a workshop on blogging from Annette Lamb at the NCCE conference. There are many positive educational uses for blogging with students.

We are going to start by blogging about our positive experiences at the NCCE Conference.

Please post your comments to the questions:
  • What was the 2005 NCCE Conference a good investment for the Puyallup School District?
  • How did you benefit from attending this conference?
  • How will your school benefit?

I learned a lot about SmartBoard and Promethean. I'm not sure which one I like better. Any opinions?

I would really like to find out more about the peer coaching and how we could get on board with that process. I was pleased with all the great websites that the conference introduced me to.

Wow!! I have to say that the geo stuff was fantastic. The smart board was also fun to see. There were so many wonderful things, but the sessions I attended on WA State History and Writer's Companion were amazing.

Wonderful! Fantastic! WOW!! Th NCCE was a great experience for me. I learned so much more about technology in the classroom. Some of what I learned will assist me with a few of my Special Ed kids and their reading. The Pacific NW history session was great! I'd attend again in a minute.

Ir provided information for teachers / administrators to take back to their buildings to get everyone excited about the technology we have and that we will be getting.

It was great to have time away from the daily schedule to concentrate on learning new activites to share with staff and students.

I liked all of the orginizational hints that I learned from one presentation. I have already created an ongoing "to do list" outline to keep on my desktop.

I have to say that I am so grateful to work for the PSD. I loved going to the Conference. Actually, it was my first conference since I have been with the PSD and it was fun and informative.

I saw a demonstration about using voice recognition technology to help students with reading fluency. The demo was for a particular piece of vendor software. The software was interesting but it was more interesting to me to think about using this technology in this way.

With Quizdom located in Puyallup I would hope that we can do some piloting of the program.

The dollars spent on sending us to the conference was worthwhile. I know that many of us will pass along to our fellow teachers what we learned and they will get excited about helping improve student learning via technology.

There were some great sessions on using Google and effective PowerPoint presentations. The Portfolio presentation will be especially useful as it gave us ideas in creating our 9th grade portfolios in PowerPoint.

How many days of the week begin with "T"???

How many seconds (2nd's) are there in a year?

How many "d's" in Rudolph the red Nosed Reindeer?

If you heard Vince Lomnardi you know the answers!!!

The NCCE Conference was useful to me because I was able to learn two things - good ways to use the technology we have, and what I should be dreaming of. Using technology requires planning ahead, and you need to know what is available and what will be available in order to plan. That is how my school will benefit. I will help plan. Oh, and I will never use another fancy animation or pretty picture in Powerpoint. That will save me time.
